I cannot speak highly enough of the Helm apartments. The apartment was spacious and very nice. The friendly welcome we got from the staff was very refreshing. There was a great atmosphere in the restautant and bar, food was excellent and there was music on later in the night.I would highly recommend the Helm for its warmth of welcome, friendly and very helpful staff.
excellent place and good location and value for money
the noise of the boiler in the kitchen every time u run water in the apts
I went with my husband and 2 children and mother and father. The rooms were spacious, clean and well facilitated, had plenty of cutlery, plates and cups, had a washing machine and dryer. Staff were friendly enough, let children stay in bar late.
Could have done with updating, ceiling in downstairs bathroom had obviously had a leak in the upstairs so paint and ceiling were peeling and had a hole in. Had only 4 channels so not much choice in the evening for the children. The music in the bar in the evening was awful, could have done with a bit of livening up.
friendly staff, cleanliness of apartment and the food in the pub was fantastic.
Friendly and welcoming staff and a great location. Excellent value for money with all the advantages of a self catering luxury apartment plus a first class breakfast being provided.
Had a great time at the Helm, staff where very friendly and helpfull. Excellent choice for breakfast, everything from orange juice to full irish.
Loads of space. Very comfortable.
Smell of stale cigarette smoke in bathroom, even worse when extractor fan switched on which is every time you switch on the light...!! Not very nice..!
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, food to die for in excellent pub with live music. Most rooms had great views. Plenty of heaters, washing machine, etc. Very Spacious accomodation.
Space, facility, location, self-catering. The fact that when we did have an issue that we got a prompt response via e-mail. Excellent service.
Fire alarm going off in the middle of the night - no explanation, no information on fire assembly point.
Shane, the owner was wonderful to stretch his kitchens cooktop to accommodate our late arrival. Wonderful setting. Clean n lovely room. Great view and awesome staff. Have already referred others. Thanks all!!! We'll be back
close to the town and westport hse and rsturants and pubs
The good: - the apartment was pretty big, with two big bedrooms sleeping up to 4 people in total. - the location is just on the Quay, and on the road to Westport House - there were a number of nice little restaurants around there - plenty of parking in the public car park (although not in the building). - Breakfast at "The Helm" was nice. - Plenty of towels, and nice and fluffy
The bad: - the whole apartment felt very tired throughout - the boiler was VERY noisy during and for about one hour after using the hot water - the bathroom fittings were old, a bit rusty and slightly mouldy - the double glazed windows didn't stop any of the street noise, and I suspect they let all the heat out as well, since even after putting the storage heaters on the apartment was still freezing (this is in August!). - the curtains in the bedrooms were the thinnest white curtains I've seen in a while, letting through both the street lights in full at night and the daylight during the day - the whole apartment had a strange smell - no WiFi (although the website claimed there was) If the same rate of 75 Euroe we paid was paid for a family of 4, I would say this is a good value for money accomodation, although it's a very basic one, but for a couple we would have been better off in a hotel. I mentioned some of these issues in the morning when settling the bill, and the person I was talking to was aware of most things, but it didn't sound like there was any plans to address them.
All the staff were great and made us feel welcome and the food was out of this world.
location, clean, view, friendly staff, lovely breakfast.
what was disappointing for us was that we had no hot water when we woke spent an hour looking for switch? then had to go to breakfast and when it was fixed we were up and dressed and had breakfast it was too late as we had to get going as we only had 1 night just felt let down as we were relying on having showers first thing not a nice start to the day.
Lovely area, staff friendly, very clean, excellent value for our price
Can be very noisey in the evening and late at night as you are over a pub
